Kike Hernandez Powers Dodgers To The World Series

The Dodgers are four wins from a World Series championship, the first in 29 years, after a dominant run to the National League Pennant.

Alas, Los Angeles Dodgers fans can exhale and rejoice. The wait since 1988 is finally over and Chavez Ravine will host the 2017 World Series.

Los Angeles completed a 4-1 NLCS series win over the Chicago Cubs with a thorough beatdown in Game 5, 11-1, which happened to be the biggest win in Championship Series closeout game in postseason history (the first on the road).

Up and down the roster the Dodgers have gotten major contributions throughout the run to the National League Pennant, and none more emphatic than Kike Hernandez’s record-setting three homer, seven RBI performance last night.

The native of Puerto Rico’s seven runs driven in set a new NLCS record. He hit a solo shot in the second inning, a grand slam in the third and put the exclamation point on the night with a two-run bomb off of Hart grad Mike Montgomery in the top of the ninth inning.

A team is firing on all cylinders when its utility outfielder is making history. Not to mention a 48-18 run advantage in the postseason, including 28-8 in the NLCS against the Cubs.

Yes, the Dodgers scored more runs last night than the Cubs did the entire series. A thorough beatdown.

While the offense has been impressive, not enough can be said about the job the LA bullpen has done. It’s one thing to have a good series, but it’s almost unheard of to get 24 consecutive innings of scoreless baseball (a span of eight games) from a bullpen in such high leverage situations.

The Dodgers now await the winner of the New York Yankees and Houston Astros in the ALCS (NY leads 3-2), with the World Series scheduled to start at 5:00 on Tuesday at Dodger Stadium.

And for the first time ever, KHTS will carry the World Series as your Dodgers station! Be sure to listen to every inning lve to get complete coverage of the Dodgers run to their seventh World Series championship.
