The California Highway Patrol has canceled a traffic advisory issued at approximately 2 p.m. closing all lanes of the northbound 14 Freeway from Avenue D in Lancaster to Lone Pine, south of Bishop, to high profile vehicles.
The closure, that has since been cancelled, was in effect for high profile vehicles “proven to be in danger,” such as trucks or vehicles towing a trailer. However, passenger vehicles, such as compact cars or low trucks, were given the OK continue at a lower speed earlier in the day on Tuesday, CHP officials said.
The stretch of the 14 Freeway that was closed is a vital road for those traveling to Mammoth Lakes from the Santa Clarita Valley, where many families commute for the holidays.
Those towing a trailer or driving in a high profile vehicle had to use an alternative route.
