The crash occurred at approximately 11:10 p.m., when a tractor trailer left the freeway’s northbound no. 4 lane and crashed into an Edison power pole, sending live wires onto the pavement. A second vehicle struck the wires and flipped, injuring all four passengers.

Within 10 minutes, a Sig Alert was put out that all traffic on the I-5 must stop due to the dangerous roadway condition. California Highway patrol officers worked with Caltrans officials and Edison repair crews throughout the night to fix the damage.
