Sending support to U.S. troops, a group of local Girl Scouts is gifting a U.S. Army unit with more than 150 boxes of cookies to their base in Germany.

While selling Girl Scout cookies from their booths at storefronts, the scouts from Troop 7262, out of Sulphur Springs Elementary, would also ask passersby to donate a box of cookies to send to an Army unit in Germany, captained by Ryan, son of KHTS AM-1220 owners Carl and Jeri Goldman.

“The cookies that we brought in… are the cookies that the girls collected and they are all going to be shipped to the soldiers that are overseas fighting for our country,” said troop leader Lisa Bohmer.

In total, about 158 boxes of Girl Scout cookies have been collected, equaling to $790 worth of cookies.

The troop also crafted an assortment of handwritten notes to show their thanks and gratitude for their service.

“We are so thankful for all the soldiers fighting for our freedom and our country,” said troop member Brielle Bohmer, “that we wanted to make sure they get a special little treat from home.”
