Lose A Ring? Firefighters Searching For Person Who Left Ring During ‘Fill The Boot’ Fundraiser

Firefighters are working to determine if a found ring was a donation or an accidental loss during a “Fill The Boot” event last week, officials said Thursday.

Each year, firefighters with the Los Angeles County Fire Department participate in an annual campaign to raise money for muscular dystrophy, according to Maria Grycan, community service liaison with the department.

This year, while firefighters were collecting money near Via Princessa and Sierra Highway, they discovered an unusual item among the donations.

Upon returning to the station and “emptying the boot,” firefighters found a ring mixed in with the cash collected, according to Fire officials.

“We do not know if this ring fell off the finger of the person donating to us, or if this ring was meant to be a donation,” Grycan said.

In years past, people have donated things other than cash during the campaign, but told the firefighters they were doing so, according to officials.

If an individual did accidentally lose the ring and can accurately describe it, the Fire Department will return it to its rightful owner, officials said.

For more information, contact Maria Grycan with the Los Angeles County Fire Department at (661) 250-2710.

  1. I have lost a ring.

Yellow Gold ring w/Diamonds (round solitaire, multiple small rounds, multiple baguettes). Ladies wedding and engagement rings molded together. Diamond is detached. Ring and diamond solitaire are placed in a very small, clear plastic zip-lock bag.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
