Man Struck, Killed By Vehicle On Sierra Highway In Canyon Country Identified

A male adult was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday night on Sierra Highway near the College of the Canyons Canyon Country campus.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department were dispatched to the scene in the 17100 block of Sierra Highway at 9:50 p.m., said Michael Pittman, supervising dispatcher for the department. Units arrived on scene at 9:55.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle collision and his injuries were described as “severe,” by Lt. Brian Aguilera with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

“The driver of the vehicle stopped immediately. He is being cooperative,” said Aguilera, adding that no charges have been brought against the driver.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending next of kin notification, and as of 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has not notified next of kin.

Both sides of Sierra Highway from the COC Canyon Country campus entrance to the exit were closed for multiple hours due to the collision.
