If Santa Clarita residents see smoke over the horizon, it could be the Mandeville Fire that has burned about 30 acres in Brentwood.

The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) started battling the blaze at 12:46 p.m. that started near a house on Mandeville Canyon Road.
“LAFD commends residents in the affected area for maintaining proper brush clearance, it is making a difference in the ability of the fire to progress and ultimately, protecting homes,” said Margaret Stewart, spokesperson.
The fire is being driven by 5-10 mph on-shore winds, according to fire officials.
Water-dropping helicopters including two from LAFD and one from Los Angeles County Fire are placing effective drops to contain forward progress.

High humidity, creating moisture in the air, is assisting with the slow movement of the fire.
Five homes were evacuated early in the incident but there are no further evacuations, no structures damaged and no injuries reported, according to officials.
