A Newhall woman was arrested after she allegedly left her two young children home alone Sunday for several hours.
On Sunday, deputies responded to the 24300 block of Newhall Avenue in Newhall to conduct a welfare check on two children, said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“Upon arrival, deputies determined that the young children had been left home alone and unsupervised for several hours,” Miller said.
Their mother, Monique Elias, 37, from Newhall, was arrested on misdemeanor child neglect charges, Miller added.
“The children were released into the custody of the DCFS,” Miller said.
Elias remains in custody with no bail, according to Miller.
