Person Struck, Killed By Metrolink Train In Newhall

A person was struck and killed Monday evening by a Metrolink train at the Newhall Station. 

At around 7:30 p.m. Monday, first responders received reports of a person hit by a train at the Newhall Metrolink Station at Railroad Avenue and Market Street, according to Jeremy Stafford a dispatch supervisor with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. 

“It was a report of a person hit by a train. They were deceased,” stated Stafford. 

The ambulance and paramedics were canceled at the scene as the person was declared dead on arrival. 

Deputies remain on scene and set up crime scene tape to investigate the accident. 

The Metrolink AV line remains closed between Sylmar and Newhall as of 8 p.m.

The intersection of Railroad Avenue and Market Street has been impacted, with the stop lights out. 

The circumstances of the accident and the identity of the victim is not known as of the publication of this article.

My condolences to the family , we are still in shocked when we got the news about luis , we known Luis since he was in elementary and Luis would always be over the house with my kids , he love haveing conversations and he just couldn’t stay still he can always make you laugh , yrs went bye and Luis video chat with me and he had this big cheesy smile on his face and he was so happy to show me his kids and he tell me about them he was a proud daddy and I can see how much he loves his kids, I was so proud of him I couldn’t believe the little boy I new back then became a great man . Mijo luis we will all miss you ! We love you .. prayers for the family
