Johnathan Porter, 21 — better known as his rap pseudonym, Blueface — was arrested Friday after allegedly being in a vehicle-to-vehicle gunfight before crashing into a center divider on the 14 Freeway.

“Under the course of investigation, detectives found evidence of a robbery prior to the shooting incident,” said Shirley Miller, spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Porter was released on $50,000 bond for assault with a deadly weapon charges, Miller said.

After the shots were fired, the two parties fled the scene, with the vehicle carrying Blueface eventually crashing on SR-14.

Porter was reportedly a victim of a robbery prior to the shootout, when the other person involved — who is still outstanding — allegedly attempted to rob the rapper at gunpoint.

“There is still one outstanding suspect wanted in connection of the shooting,” said Miller.

The wanted suspect is described as a hispanic male driving a silver pickup truck, believed to be a Dodge, according to Sheriff’s officials.

Blueface responded to the arrest in a video on social media that was filmed right as he walked out of the Sheriff’s Station.

“Y’all already know I’m out on bail,” said Porter in the video. “Stop asking if they freed me. I freed me.”

Dubbed “LA’s most controversial rapper” by Pitchfork magazine in October 2018, Blueface has been no stranger to law enforcement.

He was previously arrested in 2016 in Santa Clarita, according to arrest logs. The charges were not immediately available as of the publication of this story.

Blueface is known for the song “DeadLocs,” which has surpassed 3.4 million views on YouTube, and “Respect My Cryppin,” an ode to his life in the School Yard Crip Gang from South Los Angeles.

Porter is scheduled to return to the Antelope Valley Courthouse on Nov. 27 for his arraignment.
