Today on Real Estate & Other Stuff, Phil and Taylor discuss a variety of topics including the latest on OpenDoor, Compass dealing with issues, and Zillow laying off workers.

With Halloween having just passed, Phil opens the show by discussing the latest on the housing market in Santa Clarita Valley. Phil then discusses his personal experience of getting on appraisal on his home on Open Door and some of the takeaways he had from it. Most notably, the price of his home was not affected despite the fact he has and owns solar panels on it. This raised some eyebrows for him.

“I don’t understand how after I mentioned that I have paid off solar panels on my home how it didn’t budge the needle,” Phil said. “And their standard line is they dont give anything for solar, and it just didn’t make any sense.”

Later, Phil and Taylor discuss Compass and murmurings that the company may be bought in the not-so-distant future. Compass has become the largest company of it’s type climbing the top of the real estate market but the dynamic duo discuss an article that highlights four key trends to be aware of as it pertains to the market and company over the coming months.
