“This is our 34th park, bravo city of Santa Clarita, and it’s our 29th birthday, so you know we’re really excited,” said Mayor pro tem Laurene Weste. “When we started as a city, we had six and a half parks… we’ve redone all those, we’re very proud—34 parks is just an amazing thing.”Marketplace Park

Construction of the park began earlier this summer at the corner of Newhall Ranch Road and Grandview Drive near Real Life Church in the Bridgeport Marketplace in Valencia.

“We wanna keep doing more and more things for the community that make this great place to live an even better place to live,” said Pastor Rusty George of Real Life Church. “We’re just so grateful to be able to do this together.”

Marketplace Park joins other parks also located on Newhall Ranch Road, such as Bridgeport Park and Valencia Heritage Park.

While Bridgeport Park is just over 11 acres and Valencia Heritage Park is just over 17 acres, Marketplace Park is the smallest of the three at only 2.5 acres of open turf area.

Catering to cycling and jogging residents, the park is also located directly next to the Bouquet Canyon trail and is in close proximity to the San Francisquito Creek trail.

The park also features picnic tables, drinking fountains and a shade structure. The park’s construction also includes an adjacent parking lot with 170 parking stalls and an electric vehicle charging station.

  1. Parks are nice but are no “gift” to many of our residents. We pay for these parks with our hard earned tax dollars. Our local politicians shouldn’t be acting like they are building and gifting these parks to us. Some of our residents are barely getting by because of the high tax rates we are forced to pay and will never benefit from our parks because they are too busy trying to make ends meet.

  2. Why wasn’t my comment from yesterday posted? Censorship?

  3. I enjoy parks but would enjoy them more if there were some more Dog Parks. A dog needs a place to roam without a leash.
