Mexican folk dance starts the month on a festive note on September 7 from 7-9:00 p.m. at JAM Sessions. Ballet Folklorico Ollin will teach dancers to move to the vibrant music of Veracruz. Mariachi Tesoro de San Fernando, an award-winning youth mariachi ensemble that won the National Arts and Humanities Youth Award from the White House in 2012, will perform live music. The night will end with a fandango dance for the entire community. JAM Sessions is hosted in conjunction with the Ford Theatre Foundation, bringing dance and original live performances to the Old Town Newhall Library, located at 24500 Main Street.

Also on September 7, at The MAIN, located at 24266 Main Street, 10 performers will take the stage for 10 minutes each and share their comedy, storytelling, short films and music at the monthly 10 by 10 show from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Performances this month include music by Tom Renaud, The New Mexican and Heather Lockie, storytelling with Kat High and Claire Partin, comedy from Aiden Park and Jeanne Whitney, magic with Raul Fernandez, ventriloquism by Dan Sachoff, and a showing of the short film “DA CAPO.”

From 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on September 14, American Classics will line Main Street for the Revved Up car show, presented by State Farm. Residents can enjoy food trucks and purchase adult beverages from Persia Lounge while checking out pre-1974 American-made cars and trucks. A special emphasis is put on stock vehicles to show off the beauty and power of the originals. Car owners interested in submitting an automobile for Revved Up can apply online.

At the same time on September 14, local songwriters will perform their original works at Note by Note inside The MAIN, located at 24266 Main Street. Featured performers include songwriting duo Dole Humphries and Shelden Botler. Dole Humphries brings together different points of view to create an evolving sound, while Botler is a musician from Seattle who fuses elements of soul/R&B, jazz, folk, rock, electronic and rap. Performers interested in Note by Note can learn more online.

A world of pure imagination comes to Main Street on September 21 from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the SENSES Chocolate Factory, presented by Galpin Subaru. This Willy Wonka inspired block party features sweet food tastings, candy art, music from The G3 Band and more. Relax with a drink in hand from the on-street bar, provided by 8th and Rail, hang out with friends and enjoy the adult-friendly atmosphere. Complete the evening with grub from one of the food trucks or local restaurants.

Thursdays@Newhall’s September schedule concludes with a look into the College of the Canyons Animation Department as part of the ARTree Speaker Series on September 28 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at The MAIN.
