Another Democratic Party nominee hopeful has tossed her hat into the ring Monday, announcing an intent to challenge Congressman Steve Knight, R-Palmdale, in November.

Campaign officials for Jessica Phoenix, 35, of Burbank, said the official announcement is coming Monday at Vasquez Rocks at 2 p.m.
“I’m a geologist who studies volcanoes, which makes me a unique candidate for Congress. But in this unique time, we need different kinds of leaders to solve our problems,” according to a statement released by her campaign. “I’ve seen the value of stepping up my whole life. Both of my parents were FBI agents for over 20 years. When you have people like that as your role models, loyalty, bravery and integrity become your way of life.”
Pheonix, aka “Volcano Jess,” is reportedly being supported by 314 Action, a nonprofit encouraging scientists to run for office, specifically targeting three conservative politicians: Knight; Dana Rohrbacher, R-Costa Mesa; and Lamar Smith, R-Texas, who are pictured on the site’s homepage.
She cited President Donald Trump and Knight as her motivations for running, in a statement Monday:
“I was moved to step out of my work boots and into the race for Congress because people like Donald Trump and Steve Knight are threatening that future by destroying some of the most basic things we all agree are important,” she stated. “Education, scientific research, disaster preparedness, critical parts of our communities like roads and bridges, national parks, and wildlife are all under assault. Our economy thrives when we invest in our people and our planet. Trump and Knight both deny the science of climate change, which impacts our economy, health and way of life. Their attacks on immigrant families, women’s rights and health care coverage are offensive and damaging to the most vulnerable people in our society.”
A page set up for her candidacy shows her at Vasquez Rocks with the motto, “Keep science from being silenced.”
Phoenix, formerly Jessica Pelaez, joins Katie Hill, and potentially, Bryan Caforio, who won Democratic Party support in the 2016 primary before eventually losing to Knight.
Caforiao has not confirmed his intent to run in 2018; however, he is considering a potential run, according to sources.
Pelaez was recently profiled in a BuzzFeed article, as well.
I personally am going to get involved to make sure you are defeated. The Democrats in California are destroying our state we cannot let you continue. President Trump has to show strength because our past presidents have made us weak.
Katie Hill is the better candidate.

Since her name is Jessica Pelaez and she claims a great education, I would think she would understand the difference between legal and illegal immigration. Folks like this gal are exactly why I, a female American of Hispanic ancestry and the daughter of two legal immigrants, left the Democratic party of ignorant fools who prefer to advocate for illegal alien foreign nationals than to work on behalf of American citizens and legal immigrants. I will never vote for anyone with her values to freely murder unborn babies and allow criminal illegal aliens to prey upon innocent citizens. And it is called weather, changing since Earth first burst on the scene…Thank God for President Donald J Trump!

Shoot! It seems like politics runs year-round these days. I was so happy when the eternal Presidential campaign ended, and the next one has already started….months ago in some camps! When will it ever end!
