“A quarter-inch to (a half-inch) of rain is expected,” said Stuart Seto, weather specialist for the National Weather Santa Clarita Rain StormService.

A thunderstorm resulted in a flash flood warning and a flash flood advisory by National Weather Service officials set for areas in Santa Clarita Saturday afternoon.

The flash flood warning is set to be in effect until 5 p.m. Saturday evening as heavy rain could result in mud and debris flows in recent burn areas.

A flash flood advisory is also in effect through Saturday evening for possible mud flows in streets and urban areas for most of the Santa Clarita area, according to National Weather officials.

TSanta Clarita Rain Stormhe rain should remain active for most of Saturday afternoon and evening before it begins to warm up Sunday.

“This coming week will warm up as there is decreasing cloudiness,” said Seto. “It will start warming up to the low- to mid-70s until Wednesday, then late Thursday evening and early Friday there will be a chance of rain.”

There will be some Santa Ana winds to blow through the area from Sunday to Tuesday, and while no exact wind speeds have been predicted yet, they will “warm everything up,” according to Seto.
