After some snow on the roadway led to the brief closure, Interstate 5 reopened and resulted in California Highway Patrol officers to escort vehicles through the pass.
Snow was expected in the area Friday night and Saturday, said CHP officials, but the road is to remain open unless multiple collisions cause another road closure.
Showers of snow fell in the pass as traffic was reported as being very heavy, according to witnesses.
Residents are advised to check weather and road conditions before travelling.
