Los Angeles Dodgers
After back-to-back seasons in which the Dodgers made blockbuster trades at the “non-waiver trade deadline”, Andrew Friedman and the L.A. front office decided to forego fortifying their bullpen this season. In 2017 they brought in starting pitcher Yu Darvish from the Texas Rangers, and Manny Machado from the Baltimore Orioles in 2018. They’ll roll with what they have for the remainder of 2019 (one caveat would be a waiver trade which is a story for a different day if the time comes).
The Dodgers looked strong again in Colorado on Wednesday afternoon, breaking through a 0-0 game in the ninth inning with homers from Will Smith and Kristopher Negron (his second in as many games). They went on to win 5-1 after Kenley Jansen relieved JT Chargois to get all three outs in the bottom of the inning.
Alex Verdugo, one of our young players to watch coming in to the season, continues to impress in his first season as an everyday player. He shrugged off a 3-for-29 slump with a 4-for-4 game. Hyun-Jin Ryu threw another six shutout innings, lowering his ERA to a Major League Best 1.66.
Los Angeles is back at Dodger Stadium to open a four game series against the middling San Diego Padres. The great Clayton Kershaw is on the mound tonight. First pitch is at 7:10, listen live on your Dodgers connection in the Santa Clarita Valley, KHTS FM 98.1.

Less than 48 hours after Trevor Bauer lost his cool and chucked a ball into the center field stands in Kansas City, the former Hart pitcher was traded to the Cincinnati Reds for Yasiel Puig among others. It’s about a four hour drive from Progressive Field to Great American Ball Park in Cincy.
Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Keston Hiura was named the team’s Player of the Month for July after being called back up to MLB in late June. The former Valencia star hit his first career walk-off homer against the Chicago Cubs on July 27th.
Congratulations to Keston Hiura (.355, 6hr, 18rbi, 1.127ops), who was named #Brewers Player of the Month for July. #ThisIsMyCrew pic.twitter.com/v9iFu7kpML
