Two adults were arrested and one juvenile was detained by deputies on Saturday after a reported physical altercation with a gas station employee in Newhall sent one person to the hospital.

Just after 11:45 a.m. Saturday, deputies responded to calls of an altercation at Arco gas station on Lyons Avenue in Newhall.

According to Deputy Natalie Arriaga with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, a 41-year-old woman got into an argument with an employee. The woman then exited the building, and her 21-year-old son began to argue with the same employee, leading to a physical fight.

The employee was able to push the son out of the store, but he returned, along with a juvenile, and used items from the sales counter to assault the employee.

The employee reportedly suffered moderate injuries, and was transported to the hospital after being “struck in the head and knocked unconscious,” according to Lt. Ethan Marquez with the Santa Clarita Sheriff’s Station.

When deputies arrived on the scene, the three suspects reportedly drove away and were apprehended on the 5 Freeway shortly after.

A handgun was found during a search of the vehicle as well, according to officials on scene.

The 21-year-old son has been arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and felony vandalism, while his mother was arrested for acting/abetting, and the juvenile was detained for vandalism.
