An attempted burglary suspect was arrested Wednesday after allegedly trying to gain access to a Castaic residence, telling the homeowners she was a private investigator, officials said.
Around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to a residence on the 27700 block of Wakefield Road in Castaic regarding a suspicious person, according to Shirley Miller, a spokesperson for the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.
“The victim reported that a female Hispanic adult was banging on the front window of her residence, ringing the doorbell and refusing to leave,” Miller said.
The suspect allegedly “pulled” the homeowner’s fence in an attempt to gain access, Miller added.
The suspect reportedly told the victim that she was a “private investigator.”
Deputies arrested Maria Torres, 57, of Castaic, on felony attempted burglary charges.
Torres was transported to the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, where bail was set for $50,000, according to arrest records.
