When Undecided Apparel opened its doors two years ago, 22-year-old owner Jeremy Sifuentes followed the advice of his parents: “If you want to be your own boss, be your own boss, and at the end of the day, don’t work for someone else.”

Now, two years later, the entrepreneur is still following that advice and leading himself and his custom design company into new products.

“Well when I first moved out here from Chicago, I was was trying to get sober. I completely changed my people, places and things,” he said. “I was living with mom and not in school or doing anything with my life, so I decided to start up the idea I had when I was little.”

In 2015, the aspiring entrepreneur started to bring his vision of owning a T-Shirt design store to fruition. However, he didn’t know if he would be creating and then sending the prints off, or doing the entire process himself.

“So, I just decided that to start I’d get 400 T-shirts printed in the (San Fernando) Valley and sell them on my website. But the shirts sold quick and I was getting a lot of calls. With the money I was spending on having someone else print the shirts, I wasn’t making any money. So I decided to just do it myself.”

Jeremy resolved to do the entire process himself. Using the money he had made from the first 400 shirts, he bought a printer and made the jump into also designing hats. Doing the embroidery and silk screening out of his home, he began to build his brand. However, he realized he had plateaued in terms of space and his ability to move his product.
“I was stuck,” he explained, “I had run out of space at my house. Not to mention, that I would go to Walmart initially to buy supplies and they often times didn’t have what I was looking for. But I found this store near where I lived, called “Made,” and they had all the supplies I needed for my business.”

After visiting “Made” on multiple occassions, Jeremy began to develop a relationship with the store owner, Jeremy created another opportunity for himself.

“I got to know the guy who owned the store pretty well and eventually asked him if he was looking for any partners. He told me that he was actually looking to sell the place. I had been thinking for a while that I needed to have a storefront and thought that this was the perfect opportunity. So, I bought the 7000 square foot space and opened the Undecided Apparel official store in September 2016.”

And in the last seven months, Jeremy has seen his store grow into a premiere printing and custom design business. Not only did he upgrade all the printing equipment that had come with the store when he first purchased it, but he also added $10,000 in renovations including a skate shop in the back, which for Jeremy, is an important part.

“It’s hard to find a place that accepts skateboarders,” he said. “So when I opened my store, I went to those kids and said, ‘Hey come on in, check out the store, do as you please.’”

Beginning as a T-shirt and hat design online retailer, Undecided Apparel now designs skateboards, team uniforms, stickers, banners and even vehicle wraps.

If you have a design you need put on shirt or another piece of apparel, you can reach the store at 661-310-3700 or email [email protected]. Undecided Apparel is located at 19347 Soledad Canyon Rd, Canyon Country.
