The Santa Clarita Valley Animal Care Center is encouraging the community to consider adoption this week by highlighting two animals in need of loving homes, Flint, a resilient young dog recovering from an injury, and Seon, a shy cat searching for a patient family.
Flint, a 1-year-old dog, was found abandoned along the side of a highway with a painful eye injury. Shelter staff says he is healing well and continues to show an affectionate, gentle personality despite his difficult start.

According to the Animal Care Center, Flint enjoys attention from people and even tried to make friends with another dog through a fence during his stay. While he is currently wearing a protective cone as he recovers, staff say it is only temporary.
The shelter describes Flint as a loyal companion who would make a great adventure buddy for the right family. Flint’s if number is #A5790311.
Also hoping to find a home is Seon, a 2-year-old cat who has had a more difficult adjustment to shelter life after being surrendered by his owner.

Staff reported that Seon’s owner held and hugged him before saying goodbye, but since arriving at the shelter, he has been fearful of handling and has not yet become comfortable enough to be placed in the public cat room.
While still shy, Seon has made progress with volunteers who spend time with him using toys and treats. Shelter staff says he eagerly greets anyone walking by in hopes of receiving a snack and will readily take treats from visitors’ hands.
The Animal Care Center believes Seon would thrive in a quiet home with a cat-savvy adopter willing to give him the time and patience needed to regain his confidence.
Seon’s ID number is #A5781907 and needs an exit plan by Aug 5.
Those interested in meeting Flint, Seon, or any of the other adoptable animals can visit the Santa Clarita Valley Animal Care Center, located at 31044 N. Charlie Canyon Road in Castaic, Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
