A 14-year-old boxer mix at the Santa Clarita Valley Animal Care Center is in need of a foster or adoptive home after being surrendered when her owner became homeless.

Skye, identified as #A5792978, is a 51-pound senior dog currently awaiting placement at the Santa Clarita Valley Animal Care Center in Castaic. A rescue organization has expressed interest in taking Skye into its program but is first seeking a foster home where she can safely stay.

The rescue organization has offered to cover Skye’s medical expenses, while the foster would provide a safe and caring environment as she transitions out of the shelter.

Animal advocates describe Skye as a sweet senior dog deserving of a second chance and are encouraging community members to consider fostering or adopting her.

The Santa Clarita Valley Animal Care Center, located at 31044 N. Charlie Canyon Road in Castaic, is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The shelter is closed Sundays and county holidays.

Those interested in fostering or adopting Skye can contact the Santa Clarita Valley Animal Care Center at 661-257-3191 or email [email protected]. Potential fosters may also contact the rescue organization that is coordinating Skye’s placement.
