Saddle up for another ride through entertainment history as we spotlight a true legend from Santa Clarita’s Walk of Western Stars: the iconic stuntwoman and actress, Jeannie Epper.
Jeannie Epper, along with Martin Kove and fellow stuntwoman Sammy Thurman-Brackenbury, are the most recent inductees to the Walk of Western Stars on Main Street.
They were honored with their commemorative saddles on November 24, 2025, near the plaza area of Newhall Crossings, adjacent to Laemmle Theaters.
Although Epper passed away in May 2024 at the age of 83, her legacy endures. Her daughter, Eurlyne Epper-Woldman, and great-nephew, Nick Epper, accepted the honor on her behalf.
A member of one of Hollywood’s most renowned stunt families, Jeannie Epper carved out her own place in film and television history.
She was best known as Lynda Carter’s stunt double in the 1970s TV series Wonder Woman, and her work spanned decades, including standout stunt performances in:
- Cheyenne Autumn (1964)
- Blazing Saddles (1974)
- Wild Wild West (1999)
- Kill Bill: Vol. 2 (2004)
- And more than 150 other film and television productions.
Epper was also a founding member of the Stuntwomen’s Association of Motion Pictures, later serving as its president in 1999. In 2007, she made history as the first woman to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Taurus World Stunt Awards. Born Jean Luann “Jeannie” Epper on January 27, 1941, in Glendale, California, she was quite literally born into the business.
Her parents, John and Frances Epper, were professional stunt performers. Her father, originally from Switzerland, built a successful career specializing in horseback stunts after establishing a riding academy in Los Angeles.
Jeannie began training under her father at the age of 9 and became one of Hollywood’s first professional child stunt doubles.
Despite early challenges due to gender bias, men often performed stunts for actresses, she broke through in the 1970s, becoming a regular stunt double for Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman), Lindsay Wagner (The Bionic Woman), and Kate Jackson (Charlie’s Angels).
From those beginnings, Jeannie Epper’s career only continued to grow, cementing her place in Western and action film history.
