One of the students who was shot during the Saugus High shooting was released from the hospital late Friday night.
The student, whose name is being kept private for now at the request of the family, was released from the hospital after being shot during Thursday’s Saugus High shooting, and was home with family as of Saturday, according to a statement from the family.
“We are pleased to let our community know that our daughter is now home, recovering from injuries sustained on November 14 at the Saugus High School shooting,” the statement reads. “We are deeply appreciative of the love and support we have received and thank our community for their caring as we grieve with our friends and family.”
The family also said that they would he declining further media inquiries at this time, as they “are focused on both our daughter’s recovery and that of our community.”

The student was one of five innocent students who were shot after a 16-year-old Saugus student walked into the quad of Saugus High School Thursday morning, pulled out a .45-caliber semiautomatic handgun, and opened fire.
The suspect then pointed the gun at his own head and fired, according to investigators. He died the next day at Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital.

Two students, 15-year-old Gracie Muehlberger and 14-year-old Dominic Blackwell, were killed as the result of the shooting, with three other students being injured.
The shooter’s motivation was still not known as of Saturday afternoon.
