A contractor reportedly ruptured an underground gas main Wednesday in Valencia while operating a backhoe, prompting evacuations, officials said.
Around 1:40 p.m. Wednesday, first responders received reports of a gas leak on the 25000 block of Matel Road in Valencia, said Austin Bennett, a spokesperson with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
“A contractor hit a two-inch gas main,” Bennett said.
As a result of the Valencia gas main break, at least two homes have been evacuated, according to Bennett.
As of 1:55 p.m. Wednesday, no injuries have been reported, according to Fire officials.
