Dr. Jamie Ronchetto of Cinema Veterinary Centre in Santa Clarita discusses what you need to look for in your senior dogs and what services are offered during the pandemic.
Dr. Ronchetto joined the Hometown Morning show and answered some listeners’ questions.
I noticed that my senior dog that has short hair often has bumps on their body, is this normal?
Certainly older dogs can have skin issues, Dr. Ronchetto said. It is difficult to have a blanket statement, to ensure that your dog is safe or needs to come in.
We usually advise owners to bring in their pets to be on the safe side.

“We can check your dog and determine if they might need a medicated shampoo, medicine or simply nothing needs to be done and your dog is good to go,” Dr. Ronchetto said. “Again, anytime you see something weird on your dog’s skin, it is always good to get it checked out.”
Are you offering a drive up service?
“We are,” Dr. Ronchetto said. “We offer a hybrid service, you can stay in your vehicle curbside, or we can escort you into one of our rooms and allow one owner in with your pet during examination.”
