Providence Holy Cross Medical Center has been selected by Modern Healthcare magazine as one of the 2019 “Best Places to Work in Healthcare,” officials said Tuesday.

Providence Holy Cross is among five in the state and one of the only medical centers in Los Angeles County to be included in the annual survey, which also included healthcare companies such as suppliers and home health organizations, according to Providence officials.

The award program identifies and recognizes outstanding employers in the healthcare industry nationwide. Organizations making this year’s list of Best Places to Work in Healthcare stand out in their efforts to create empowered and satisfied workforces by nurturing a sense of loyalty and building engagement, officials said.

Bernard Klein, M.D. and chief executive of Providence Holy Cross, pointed out that inclusion in the Best Places to Work list was based in part on an extensive employee assessment.

“Providence Holy Cross is the busiest hospital in our community, but our care teams never lose sight of our promise to ‘know me, care for me, ease my way’ for every patient – and to one another,” Klein said. “At Providence, we call our employees ‘caregivers,’ recognizing the compassionate care they provide throughout our hospital and for their continuous efforts to raise the bar on excellence.”

Providence is set to be honored at the 2019 Best Places to Work in Healthcare awards gala in September in Dallas, Texas.
