“Have us come out and give you measurements, give you some design advice– we do that all for free,” said Ben Boyd, a project manager at SCV Floorsmith. “You don’t even have to end up buying from us; we just want you to get the right information so you know what to do going forward.”
Because a home’s lighting can affect the appearance of floors, SCV Floorsmith designers will even bring samples to homes so residents can get a better idea of what the flooring would like in their own home.

Gray flooring options are rising in popularity in Santa Clarita, according to Boyd, and wider hardwood planks are more commonly chosen over the thinner planks that were popular 15 to 20 years ago.
Residents looking to modernize their kitchen without risking water damage are also increasingly turning to a porcelain tile with the appearance of hardwood.
“In terms of trying to avoid water damage, the best you could go for is porcelain tile,” Boyd said. “That’s another thing that’s really popular now because you can put that in a kitchen if you want that wood style look, but you can spill water on it and nothing happens. It looks a lot like wood but it’s porcelain tile.”
After residents select the flooring option right for their style and home, SCV Floorsmith project managers oversee the installation process, stopping by the house every day during installation to ensure the process is going smoothly.
The SCV Floorsmith showroom in Stevenson Ranch is open Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., as well as Saturdays and Sundays by appointment.
