Nurses and other medical professionals gathered around tables set up in the main lobby of the hospital Wednesday and shifted through over 700 pairs of scrubs donated by Santa Clarita print shop Undecided Apparel.

The fundraiser had been, in part, put together by Sybil Moore, a volunteer who is also a part of the fundraising team.

“It’s just a great gift from Undecided Apparel,” Moore began. “This specific event is going to help with our NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). We need more beds for our NICU… We are also having big plans for our parking structure.”

When Jeremy Sifuentes acquired the print shop store in September of last year, he also inherited all of the shop’s merchandise. Among the inventory were hundreds upon hundreds of medical scrubs.

“We were originally trying to sell them… They just weren’t doing as well as we hoped,” Sifuentes said, “so we figured by donating them (the hospital) would get better use out of them than we would.”

So in early August, the Santa Clarita print shop donated over 700 pairs of scrubs to Providence Holy Cross.

“I think it’s huge — we gave back to help out the community,” said Store Manager TJ Kunich, who was in attendance at the scrub sale. “We took something that we didn’t know what to do with and now (people) are getting use out of it.”

Although the scrub sale was a success with approximately two-thirds of the donation sold off, Tari Spitalny, a silent partner with Undecided Apparel, says this is just the beginning.

“We do have more for them, so whenever they need more they can do this again. We’re hoping maybe for the holidays,” she said.

Undecided Apparel is a print shop in Santa Clarita that offers custom prints and embroidery on t-shirts, shoes, hats and other accessories. Those that visit the store can explore their diverse inventory to print on, or bring in an item of your own.
