Four New Laws Go Into Effect Monday, Including Ammunition Sale Restrictions

Four new laws are expected to go into effect on Monday, affecting California residents statewide, including Santa Clarita.

From ammunition sale restrictions to gas tax increases, four new laws are taking effect on Monday, July 1 in California.

PEN 30352 — Ammunition Sale Background Checks

This law requires background checks for ammunition sales, and will require vendors to electronically track ammunition sales and transfers.

Existing law requires the attorney general to maintain records — including fingerprints, concealed carry licenses and information from firearms dealers — to assist in investigating crimes and certain civil actions.

The expanded law requires sellers to run a background check with the Department of Justice before ammunition purchases.

SB1 — Gas Tax Increase

Beginning July 1, the state tax on gasoline is set to raise an additional 5.6 cents per gallon, bringing the total gas tax in California to 61.8 cents per gallon: the highest in the nation.

These increases in the gas tax are part of SB 1’s intended purpose of raising billions of dollars for road and bridge repairs and mass transit, according to officials.

AB 748 — Public Access to Body Cam Footage

This law requires police departments in California to release body camera video and audio from police shootings and use of force incidents within 45 days of the incident.

SB 1448 — Patient’s Right to Know Act:

This law  states that medical providers will be required to notify patients before treating them if they have been placed on probation for serious professional misconduct involving harm to patients.

  1. PEN 30352 is just one more way The Nazi’s in Sacramento are taking away more of our rights. Background Checks were done when you bought your gun. So now Gov. Nuisance and his Hitleresque Legislators are looking for more restrictions And Money to help pay for their Illegal Voters’ Health Care.

SB 1 The Gas Tax is another way the crooks in Sacramento steal more of our hard earned money. Every time some crooked politician needs a raise or needs to put another 10,000 Illegals on Welfare they use that old broken down excuse that “Our Roads Need Repair”. How many times has that excuse been around the block? Our roads do need repair or upgrade, but “it ain’t happening”.

  2. It’s coming soon get ready. The people will rise. let’s get it on.

  3. Bunch of B.S. for both new laws. Criminals don’t play by the rules/laws. No a$$hole is going to do a background check before committing a crime. Their weapons are off the books so thanks for putting the squeeze on us good guys. What this state needs is to protect us from Liberal morons, another gas tax ????? Yeah that money will be wasted. I didn’t see results from the last gas tax. What I saw was two different pot holes that blew out my tires on the 5 fwy and Bouquet cyn.

  4. Politicizing schools has ruined everything

  5. This is another reason to pay attention-
The gas tax (this time) was voter-approved.
As Heman Cane would say, “Blame Yo’ Self!”

  6. California’s legislators are against middle class law abiding Americans, they are against the Constitution and they are against entrepreneurship and Manifest Destiny. What this state needs is for Americans to stop being so afraid and to take our state back, by force if necessary. The federal government should annex the state and block all trade in or out so that the loyalist citizens can then retake it. We need change or this will get worse. Hear me conservatives, we are losing!!!
