The 2018 Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival, presented by Heritage Sierra Medical Group, is scheduled to take over Old Town Newhall from April 19 to April 22.

This year marks the 25th annual Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival, and to celebrate the silver anniversary, general admission to the event has been made free for all attendees, according to city officials.

“Upon entering historic William S. Hart Park, guests will enjoy access to 40 unique western gear vendors, where you can purchase handmade crafts, cowboy hats, boots and more,” read a statement for the event from the City of Santa Clarita. “Cowboy Festival activities such as archery, hatchet throwing and mechanical bull riding all make a return this year, and you can take a break from the fun and excitement with food from your choice of different cowboy cuisine vendors and libations from one of the Wolf Creek beer gardens stationed around the park.”

Additionally, the festival is set to feature a full lineup of performances across five stages, according to festival officials: the Mane Stage, the Ranch House Stage, the Hart Hall Stage, the Heritage Junction Stage and the OutWest Stage.

The Mane Stage is scheduled to feature performances from award-winning Jon Chandler and Ernie Martinez, Lon Hannah and the San Joaquin Junction and New West, according to officials

Acts scheduled for the Ranch House Stage include Wild Horse Singers and Dancers, Joey Dillon, Sourdough Slim, Joe Herrington, and the award-winning yodeler Kristyn Harris, according to festival officials.

In addition to performances from Dave Stamey, Gary Robertson, Mikki Daniel and R.W. Hampton, the Hart Hall Stage is also set to feature the annual Youth Poetry Presentation on the Sunday afternoon of the weekend event, according to officials.

The Heritage Junction Stage is set to feature the Western bands of the Messick Family, Dust in My Coffee and The Cowboy Way, according to city officials.

The Outwest Stage is set to feature both musicians and authors this year. Musicians include John Bergstrom, Jerry Hall and Trick Shot, Nancy Lee, Almeda Bradshaw, Ron Christopher and Joyce Woodson, and authors include JR Sanders and Chuck Learn. The Outwest Stage area is also set to host the Buckaroo Book Shop, offering a common meeting place for readers and writers, according to event officials.
