Officials with The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced that the northbound 5 freeway has been reduced to three lanes for seven months in Castaic due to construction.
“Northbound I-5 is reduced to three lanes a mile north of Lake Hughes Road in Castaic for construction through October,” said Caltrans.
The lane closure comes as Caltrans crews are working to reinforce the roadway commonly driven on by big rigs, according to Caltrans.
The first phase of construction is expected to last through the end of August. A second phase of road work is set to start soon after lasting through October, according to Caltrans.
Anyone travelling through the Grapevine is urged to plan for extra drive time due to the construction.
