Over the weekend the most common reason for arrests was alcohol-related offenses for drinking and driving.
The California Highway Patrol Newhall Office and the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff Station combined for a total of 14 arrests with six of them being for drinking and driving.
There were two drug-related arrests made, one for bringing drugs to a jail and another for someone in possession of narcotics.
Other than the drug and alcohol-related crimes there were two individuals arrested for separate shoplifting incidents, one domestic abuse case, another person arrested for battery and an individual was taken into custody for taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent.
On Sunday, a 39-year-old woman was arrested for child cruelty with the possibility of causing injury or even death to the child.
In the past, a bulk of arrests were made up of non-residents of Santa Clarita, but this week 64 percent of the arrests were from Santa Clarita residents.
