Santa Clarita Natives Phil and Ashely Wright along with their children were featured on America’s Got Talent with other families that call themselves “The Parent Jam”.

In 2017, Wright launched the Parent Jam after getting the idea to use dancing to unite children and their families. 

His dancing sessions are streamed live online with the goal of uplifting and loving families everywhere. 

Some of the biggest names in music, like G-Eazy, Cardi B, Will Smith, MC Hammer, TLC, and Lil Nas X, have collaborated with Wright.

In their audition back in July Wright and the Parent Jam had judges Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara and Hedi Klum in love with their act.

“I think this idea is genius. It was one of those auditions that just makes you feel great,” said Cowell in a quote from NBC. “For me, this is what this show is all about.”

While most of the judges were pleased with the group, Howie Mandel was not a big fan.

 “This is fun. It’s sweet. It’s family. I don’t think it’s big enough or excellent enough to win a million dollars,” said Mandel in a quote from NBC.

Despite the pushback from Mandel the love from the rest of the judges was enough to advance them on the show.

In Episode 1814, Wright & Parent Jam delivered an impressive performance during the Semifinals. 

They showcased their talent by performing a captivating hip-hop dance routine. 

Their routine included a medley of popular songs such as Boyz II Men’s “Motown Philly” and Salt-n-Pepa’s “Push It”.

Mandel buzzed the act, which is a judge’s way of giving the performers a thumbs down,  but Cowell gave them a standing ovation and buzzed Howie in response to his critique.
