Assemblywoman Christy Smith, D-Santa Clarita, is set to host a wildfire town hall with first responders in efforts to teach residents how to prepare for brush fires, officials said.
On Saturday, Smith, chair of the Joint Legislative Committee on emergency management, is set to partner with the Los Angeles County Fire Department and Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for a Wildfire Preparedness Town Hall Meeting in the Santa Clarita Valley, according to Smith’s office.
The town hall is intended to better prepare Santa Clarita residents for the challenges of California’s year-round wildfires, according to officials.
“Here in the 38th Assembly District, we know the threat of our new wildfire reality all too well,” Smith said. “In this new normal of a year-round fire season, we must make sure we are properly educated about wildfire resiliency and how to prevent loss of life, livelihood and property.”
Those who attend are set to also hear from experts on how to recover from a wildfire if property is lost, according to officials.

The event is scheduled for Saturday, July 20 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
