To celebrate the release of issue No. 100 of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Brave New World Comics in Newhall is set to highlight a store-exclusive variant cover that features original, “never-before-published” art by Ninja Turtles Co-Creator Kevin Eastman.
On Saturday, Dec. 21, Brave New World Comics is set to host their third-annual TMNT Day. This year, the shop is set to celebrate the release of issue No. 100 of “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” with an in-store signing with artist David Baron.
“It was love at first sight when I was introduced to the Turtles,” Baron said. “What’s not to love about four ninjas who ride skateboards and eat pizza?”
For Baron, the love for the Ninja Turtles franchise is one that connects him to his younger brother.
“My first time drawing the Turtles was for my younger brother,” Baron said. “Later on, I remember when I first did work on the Turtles comics, I called my brother right away and said, ‘You’ll never guess what I got to do today.’”
Baron also did the color work for Brave New World Comics’ store-exclusive variant cover for issue No. 100. A variant cover is an alternate cover for a comic that a publisher releases along with the regular cover of that particular issue. In certain circumstances, publishers will release variant covers that are exclusive to certain comic book stores.

The exclusive variant for Brave New World Comics is made even more special as it features original art from one of the co-creators of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Kevin Eastman.
“Working with Kevin was a fantastic treat,” Baron said. “It was such a fun process. We definitely went all out to make sure that we produced the greatest cover possible.”
The store-exclusive variant is $20, and includes a complimentary signed and numbered “mini print” of the cover. While purchase of the cover is required to get in line for the signing, Baron is set to sign any book brought to him, according to officials.
Baron is also set to provide $10 head sketches of the Ninja Turtles during the event.
More details for the event can be found here.
The signing is scheduled to last from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The variant cover can also be bought online here.
