Celebration Of Life Held For Woman Killed In Saugus Pedestrian Crash

A celebration of life was held Thursday night for Heidi Levy, a campus supervisor at Bowman High School who was killed last Friday after being struck by a car on Copper Hill Drive.

Dozens of family, friends and community members gathered at Bowman High School Thursday to celebrate the life of Heidi Levy, a woman who worked at Bowman in 2007 and within the William S. Hart Union High School District since 2001.

“Heidi has touched so many lives in only positive ways,” said Eran Zeevi, principal of Bowman High. “Her infectious smile and her warm heart has reached so many here at Bowman and the community around her.”

Heidi Ray Levy was born on March 4, 1950, in San Diego, CA. She would go on to work as a campus supervisor within Santa Clarita for almost 20 years, according to her daughter Kayla.

“The world changed the day she came into it and it will never be the same since she’s left,” Kayla wrote in a eulogy read at the service by her husband Eric. “It’s hard to define her because, as we all know, she was one of a kind. If you knew Heidi, you just had to love her.”

Levy was known throughout Bowman for the care she had for the students, displayed through the warm attitude she had and the hugs she would consistently give.

“Those hugs made students smile and help them get through some really difficult times,” Zeevi said. “Heidi would always be out front in the mornings, greeting every single student, arriving at school, always a handshake or her side hugs.”

A graduate of Bowman High named Chris said during the service that the friendship he shared with Levy was “among the most important relationships” he had in his life.

“Heidi never let anybody go to class upset,” he said. “Never under any circumstances, we’d go hungry in school because Heidi made it a point to make sure that none of the food that was prepared in the cafeteria went to waste, and would make sure that everybody in attendance was fed, even if it meant using her own lunch account.”

While many in attendance shared memories of Levy’s time at Bowman, she interacted with thousands of students across multiple other schools in the Santa Clarita Valley.

“She touched the lives here, and she touched the lives at so many other schools,” said Carolyn Hoffman, principal of Sierra Vista Junior High School. “She made a difference in thousands and thousands of people.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help cover the cost of funeral expenses for Levy’s family. As of Friday afternoon, over $5,000 of the page’s $7,000 goal had been raised.

  1. Wow, this truly touched my heart. What a wonderful tribute to mom of so many. I haven’t stopped thinking of her since I found out about this tragedy. Kayla and Ryan, take comfort in the fact that mom touched so many hearts and will definitely be missed. God speed Heidi. Much love.
