The City of Santa Clarita has been awarded a national finance award for the 25th consecutive year, officials said Monday.

Santa Clarita’s finance department received an Investment Policy Certificate of Excellence Award from the Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada for its Fiscal Year 2019-20 investment policy, according to City officials.

This is the 25th year the City has been recognized by the Association of Public Treasurers of the United States and Canada. The Certificate of Excellence Awards commends the City for developing a comprehensive written investment policy, according to officials with City Hall.

All of the members of the association’s Investment Policy Certification Committee must review investment policies and then approve based on 18 areas detailed by Model Investment Policy, including components like a policy’s scope, delegation of authority, ethics and conflicts of interest. The committee is comprised of 15 public and private sector volunteers from across North America.

“The award demonstrates the City’s continued dedication to adopting and implementing industry best practices in the area of investments,” said Brittany Houston, a Santa Clarita finance manager. “The City is pleased to have received this prestigious award for its success in developing its Fiscal Year 2019-20 investment policy.”

More information about the award’s specifics can be found by contacting Houston at the City’s finance division here or at (661) 255- 4996.
