City Officials Provide Update On Canyon Country Community Center

Officials with the City of Santa Clarita released a video Wednesday to provide an update on the new Canyon Country Community Center, which is currently undergoing the third phase of its construction.

On Wednesday, officials with the City of Santa Clarita released a video providing an update on the status of the new Canyon Country Community Center.

Located on eight acres of city-owned land on the corner of Soledad Canyon Road and Sierra Highway in Canyon Country, the new center is set to offer a gymnasium, computer technology, arts and crafts, community and fitness rooms, an open turf play area, flexible outdoor spaces for events, playground, walkway, landscaping and a demonstration kitchen to be used for teaching.

That’s going to be just a fantastic place and that’s going to be a place where everybody can go and recreate,” Santa Clarita Mayor Bill Miranda told KHTS back in December. “So whether you’re five years old, or 50 years old, or 90 years old, there’s something for everybody at the Canyon Country Community Center.”

Construction of the building itself is still underway, along with outdoor recreation areas including a basketball court, a passive turf play area, and space for other outdoor events.

The foundation for both the main building and the public restrooms has been poured, and the structural steel installation for the buildings has been erected. Additionally, the roof and walls of the center have been installed, and roadway modifications for the nearby areas along Sierra Highway are currently underway.

Phase three of the new community center is expected to be completed by the end of March.

“You’re going to love it,” Miranda said. “You’re going to love the location, you’re going to love the grounds, you’re going to love the building and everything that’s in the building.”

  1. They are destroying Sierra highway. It’s a freaking mess.

  2. Looks even better than I thought! Great job everyone!

  3. It will be a nice accommodation for our city.

My only feaf is that the new Community Center will become a magnet for the homeless, especially with all the homeless that are on that side of town. Ever since California legalized marijuana, drug use and shootings have increased. Not a good mix.
