College of the Canyons is set to host the Summer Safe Fair this weekend at Oak Tree Gun Club, providing multiple ways to remain safe around firearms, pools and more.
The Summer Safe Fair is a result of the work COC has been doing to address “the means of prevention” in regards to firearms and suicide, as well as other means, such as pharmaceuticals, according to Larry Schallert, assistant director of the student health and wellness program for COC.
During the fair, attendees can go to different booths to learn about a variety of gun topics, including: basic firearms rules and regulations, purchasing, storing, relinquishment, care, safety measures, safes and gun locks, Schallert said.
Other topics that are set to be discussed include suicide prevention, intervention, response training and swim safety, according to officials..
The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 29 at Oak Tree Gun Club from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to officials.
Oak Tree Gun Club is located at 23121 Coltrane Avenue in Newhall.
