Deputies Injured In Mobile Gun Range Explosion Transferred To USC Medical Center

The two deputies who were injured in an explosion at a mobile gun range at the North County Correctional  Facility (NCCF) in Castaic have been transported to L.A. County USC Medical Center.

Just after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, two deputies were injured after an explosion at a mobile gun range at NCCF located on the Pitchess Detention Center property in Castaic, Sheriff’s officials said.

The two injured deputies were rushed to the hospital by Sheriff personnel to Henry Mayo Hospital.

As of 1 p.m. Tuesday, the two injured deputies were in “stable but critical condition,” according to Dr. Louie-Marc Contreras, Chief of Staff for Henry Mayo.

Around 6 p.m., LASD officials said the deputies have been transported down to L.A. County USC Medical Center for further treatment. However, no updates on their condition was provided. 

The cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
