Falcon 9 Successfully Launches 23 Starlink Satellites From Vandenberg, Seen In Santa Clarita

On Monday around 6 p.m., SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Space Launch Complex at Vandenberg Space Force Base, carrying 23 Starlink satellites into low-Earth orbit.

As the rocket ascended, it was visible across the skies of Santa Clarita, where many residents took a moment to witness the illuminated trail streaking across the evening sky. Among those who stopped to admire the sight were deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, who captured the moment as the bright glow of Falcon 9’s ascent lit up the horizon.

The launch was another step in SpaceX’s ongoing mission to expand its Starlink constellation, aimed at providing global broadband internet coverage.

This flight marked a significant milestone for the first-stage booster, completing its 23rd launch and landing. The booster had previously supported several key missions, including NROL-153, NROL-87, NROL-85, SARah-1, SWOT, Transporter-8, Transporter-9, NROL-146, Bandwagon-2, and 14 prior Starlink deployments.

Its repeated use highlights SpaceX’s advancements in reusability, a critical aspect of reducing launch costs and increasing efficiency in space travel.

With this successful mission, SpaceX continues to push the boundaries of spaceflight, demonstrating the reliability of the Falcon 9 and making progress toward its goal of global satellite connectivity.

The next launch in California is scheduled for Feb. 27.
