UPDATE — SoCalGas has said they closed the leak at approximately 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.

“At about noon on Saturday, December 30, SoCalGas crews responded to reports of a natural gas odor in Santa Clarita,” said Melissa Bailey, SoCalGas Office of Media and Public Information. “Crews have determined that the source of the odor is a leak in a natural gas riser in the area of Shangri-La Drive and Amber Lane.”

SoCalGas Crews are currently on scene working to stop the flow of gas as of 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, according to officials.

“No evacuations or road closures have been necessary,” said Bailey. “No injuries have been reported.”

If a customer suspects a gas leak, SoCalGas encourages that customer to safely evacuate the area before calling SoCalGas at 800-427-2200, 24 hours a day, seven days a week; or before dialing 911.
