City and county officials gathered Friday to break ground on the new Fire Station 46 serving Valencia by FivePoint and the Santa Clarita Valley.

On Friday morning, community members attended a groundbreaking ceremony for the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s new Fire Station 46 located in the FivePoint neighborhood of Stevenson Ranch.

Starting the ceremony off was 5th District Supervisor of Los Angeles County Kathryn Barger, who emphasized the importance of building more fire stations to keep communities safe.

“That’s our priority as well, and we create it as we create a cutting-edge community to live, work, and play…It’s been a privilege to partner with the County Fire Department and others to design and develop a community that embraces best practices,” said Hedigan.

To close out the speeches was Santa Clarita Mayor Laurene Weste, who reflected on Santa Clarita’s wildfires and how the inclusion of the new fire station can help fight against disastrous fires.

“We’ve seen devastating wildfires in this valley. That’s why today is so critical, because it’s the safety of our valley. The men and women of the fire department are the cornerstone in our protection, and the fire stations are the foundation of what tools they have to use to do their job,” said Weste.

Representatives of George Whitesides, Suzette Valladares, and Pilar Schiavo handed off certificates to Chief O’Brien in acknowledgment of Fire Station 46.

The 13,000-square-foot building will house a new engine and paramedic squad, making medical responses quicker and more efficient. Fire Station 46 is expected to open in October 2027 and will be located at 26720 Bombero Lane, Stevenson Ranch, CA 91381.
