Hayden Panettiere Remembered, Acted In Several Projects Filmed In Santa Clarita

Actress Hayden Panettiere died Sunday after being found in cardiac arrest, and is being remembered for her life and career, some of which were filmed in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Panettiere starred in several hit television series during her career, including “Heroes” and “Nashville.”

One of her early roles, that of Princess Dot in the Pixar film A Bug’s Life (1998), Panettiere was nominated for a Young Artist Award and a Grammy Award, making her the fifth-youngest nominee for a Grammy.

Panettiere rose to fame in 2006 for her role as Claire Bennet on NBC’s science-fiction drama “Heroes.” The series, which ran from 2006 to 2010, followed ordinary people who discovered they had extraordinary abilities.

Panettiere’s character, Claire, was a high school cheerleader with the ability to rapidly heal from injuries, making her one of the show’s central characters, according to Reuters.

“Heroes” also has a connection to the Santa Clarita Valley. The series filmed in Santa Clarita, including at Golden Valley High School, which was used as the fictional Union Wells High School attended by Claire Bennet and her friend Zach, according to IMDb.

The Santa Clarita Valley has long been a popular filming destination for television and film productions, with the Santa Clarita Film Office noting that the area hosts hundreds of productions each year.

Panettiere later starred as Juliette Barnes on the musical drama “Nashville,” a role that earned her two Golden Globe nominations. She also appeared in films including “Remember the Titans” and the “Scream” franchise, according to  Reuters.

Panettiere was 36. Her family confirmed her death through her publicist. The cause of death had not been announced, and authorities said the investigation remained ongoing, according to Reuters.
