Large Crowd, Community Leaders Gather At Santa Clarita City Hall In Support Of Israel

On Thursday, Santa Clarita Valley residents rallied at the steps of City Hall in support of Israel.

A rally of support for Israel, organized by local community leaders, gathered in front of the entrance to Santa Clarita City Hall on Thursday evening.

“As a College of the Canyons student, I believe that Israel has a right to defend itself and exist,” said Rachel Kleinfeld, a Santa Clarita resident and student who attended the pro-Israel rally alongside many others.

Kleinfeld found out about the demonstration from her father’s Facebook account, although she states that social media is often a tool to spread misinformation when it comes to Israel and Palestine relations.

“I see a lot of it on social media, and it’s hard because it’s a lot of false information,” Kleinfeld said. “And it just sucks to see people I know spreading that false information.”

Kleinfeld is one of many who attended the rally in front of City Hall, several of whom were seen waving large Israeli flags to demonstrate their sentiments.

Adults as well as children gathered at the demonstration and listened to several speakers.

“We have to remember that who is shooting these missiles is Hamas. And in their charter they call for the destruction of Israel,” Santa Clarita rabbi Choni Marozov said to the crowd. “We have a responsibility to educate our children. To educate those around us. Because those who project falsehoods and lies and hatred, they have microphones.”

Recently, Congressman Mike Garcia, R- Santa Clarita, co-sponsored a related resolution condemning the group known as Hamas, and released a statement on the subject.

“Let me be clear, I stand with Israel,” Garcia said. “Israel is the U.S.’s most critical ally and we must condemn Hamas’ attacks and support Israel. The heinous acts committed by Hamas are unacceptable.”

Garcia has stated that he believes Israel is the keystone of stability and eventual sustainable peace in the Middle East, and many who attended the rally at City Hall echoed similar sentiments on the topic of Israel and Palestine.

  1. The deal that was brokered between the Arab countries and Israel in the last admin worked (two things can be true, you can hate Trump and recognize that some of the policies worked). That deal was unbundled and funding was restored to Iran and Hamas and this is the result. Everyone knows it but will point to some other activities as the trigger. There will also always be automatic sympathy for the perceived ‘smaller’ party in a conflict absent other information, and that is true here as well. The Palenstinians and Hamas have been offered numerous peaceful solutions and rejected all of them to keep the conflict alive. They also now have a sympathetic and apoplectic US administration and here we are.

    • You’re being too kind. There are several anti-Semitic politicians within the Democrat party that are openly spreading hate and lies towards the Israelis. This is not new and now that the democrats are in control and all hell is breaking loose. The democrat part are the party of hate and warmongering. But at least we don’t have anymore “mean tweets”

  2. As fair and balanced as I expect from KHTS

  3. The “Abraham Accords” brokered by the Trump administration were not endorsed by Palestine. This agreement was between Israel, UAE and Bahrain. They did nothing to address the root of the discord in the Middle East – occupation of the Gaza Strip and Golan Heights. Until people of different religious faiths can learn to accept and respect one another, there will be no peace in the Middle East. I know this is a simplistic view of a complex situation but wouldn’t coming together as the human race go a long way to solve many of our problems. I challenge all of you to look beyond religious beliefs, political affiliation, ethnicity, and skin color and let’s engage in conversation rather than pointing fingers and trying to blame the other side for everything that goes wrong in the world. We are the UNITEd States, after all, with a long history of welcoming immigrants to our country for a better life.

  4. Pray for Israel ?? Anyone who followed the situation in Israel, predicted this once Biden in office. But hey, this is what our neighbors voted for. Buckle up buttercup. It’s going to get much much worse.

  5. You can’t be so short sighted. It doesn’t mater who our president is, or what deals were made and broken, they will be fighting till the end of time…

  6. Oh but you don’t publish and cover all the Palestinian marches going on right now? So you only cover for those who support Apartheid, genocide, and ethnic cleansing?! Very disappointing! Children being bombed into pieces doesn’t matter to these zionists that blindly follow their Zionist leader #freepalestine #endgenocide
