During a ceremony that gathered hundreds of Santa Clarita residents, friends and family of Maj. Del Bagno shared stories about a life that began in Santa Clarita.

In addition to the Del Bagno’s childhood friend, who also joined the Air Force, Stephen’s uncle shared a few words about “just the type of person” he was.

Additionally, Del Bagno’s fellow Thunderbirds pilots shared stories that showed the Major’s love for sharing his passion for aviation and the United States Air Force.

Following the words of Del Bagno’sformer brothers in arms, the Major’s father shared with those present how much his son loved the Air Force, and how much he cared for the other members of the Thunderbird team.

The ceremony proceeded with Del Bagno’s uncle singing Amazing Grace, and the Thunderbirds performing their roll call. However, when the Major’s spot in the roll was to be called, there was a symbolic silence to note his absence.

The ceremony concluded with a 21-gun-salute, followed by “Taps” being played by a single bugler from the United States Air Force.

Del Bagno’s family were presented with a flag honoring his military service and sacrifice at the end of the service.
