Providence Holy Cross To Hold Stroke Assessment Event

Providence Holy Cross is set to host a stroke assessment at the Las Palmas Senior Center Saturday.

Providence Holy Cross Medical Center is offering a free stroke health fair Saturday at the Las Palmas Senior Center in San Fernando.

Experts are set to provide complimentary blood pressure and glucose testing, carotid artery ultrasound if indicated, information on symptoms and treatment of stroke and diabetes and nutritional guidance for healthy living.

The ultrasound is painless and involves high-frequency sound waves to create pictures of the inside of the two large arteries in the neck to identify blockages or potential blockages. Interactive stroke education for children will also be offered, according to officials.

The stroke assessment is scheduled for Saturday, May 27, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Las Palmas Senior Center is located at 505 S. Huntington Street, San Fernando 91340.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
