Santa Clarita Aquatic Center Holds An Educational “Water Safety Day”

This free, open-to-all-ages Water Safety Day event demonstrated procedures on how to stay safe in the summer sun!

Families, girl scouts, deputies, fire fighters, and lifeguards all gathered on the grounds of the Santa Clarita Aquatic Center this morning to watch live demonstrations that will ensure their safety during a day at the pool.

Different stations were organized around the pool, each showcasing drills on the importance of things like CPR, how to rescue people as they drown, and calling 9-1-1 in the case of an emergency.

Firefighters were also present with a full engine, and were happy to show a local scout troop all the gear and procedures they go through to ensure our safety on a day to day basis.

One station featured two lifeguards who demonstrated to children on how to call 9-1-1 if an adult isn’t available, while another allowed guests to practice CPR on a toddler size training dummy.

Another featured a group of lifeguards demonstrating how they rescue people from drowning, in both shallow and deep waters.
