For the fourth year in a row, the Santa Clarita Domestic Violence Center is offering “Rent-a-Santa” services to the community this holiday season, allowing individuals to “rent” Santa and Mrs. Claus for their various holiday events.
“We designate proceeds from the services to support the 30-day emergency shelter,” said Linda Davies, executive director of the Domestic Violence Center, in a previous KHTS article.

Among the various services they provide to distressed victims, the Santa Clarita Domestic Violence Center provides access to emergency shelter and transitional housing for individuals and their children.
“Women and children may stay in our confidential emergency shelter for up to 30 days,” according to DVC’s website. “At our shelter, they receive emotional support, food, clothing, goal planning assistance, advocacy for medical, legal and financial resources, information and referrals.”
The “Rent-a-Santa” fundraiser financially assists the lodging and day-to-day necessities provided by the shelter, as well as the counseling, parenting groups, art expression and nightly support groups residents and children participate in.
The price to rent Santa and Co. is $100 for the first hour, $150 (total) for two hours, and then a third hour is an additional $100 ($250 total).

“Every year we look forward to providing this service to our community,” said Davies. “We have a dedicated group of community members that volunteer to be Santa or Mrs. Claus at certain events at homes or businesses.”
Those interested in renting a Santa for their holiday event or volunteering as a Santa can contact Barbara Cochran at (661) 251-1352.
“We’re always looking for new Santa’s as well, and if anyone wants to volunteer as a Santa (they) can contact (us) to get Santa training,” said Davies.
